Apple Photo Booth Fun!

I was playing with Photo Booth on my Macbook tonight and I figured I would take a picture of our cat Paget. There was only one that is worth showing you.... The effects are so much fun. To keep from embarrassing Paget too much I figured I should post an old picture of me as well. Enjoy the laugh!

iPhone Launch Thoughts....

If you are any kind of a Apple Computer fan or even a casual tech junkie you know that the iPhone goes on sale Friday, June 29th. During the 2007 WWDC this past Monday Steve Jobs stated that sales would begin at 6:00pm. Why 6:00pm?!?!

First, will the store prep for the sale the night before? This would allow the iPhone to be on display and ready for sale throughout the day but not allow the cash registers to start raking in the cash until 6:00pm. The other option would be to close down the Apple Stores around the US around 3:00pm. This would allow for a quick setup right before the bell rings. I do know that this isn't anything new for Apple. They did the same thing when Tiger was release in 2005. This just seems like an event that would justify an earlier time.

Second, I have been reading that the iPhone sale will begin at 6:00pm LOCAL TIME. This will mean that anyone living on the east coast will be able to buy the iPhone 3 hours before us west coasters? Shit, it will be 6 hours before anyone in Hawaii!!

Third, what kind of lines are they expecting at the store? Will they be limiting the number of people in the store? I would suggest signing up for a Genius Bar appointment at 6:00pm on the 29th as a possible way to bypass the long lines. There is a chance appointments won't be accepted on the 29th. Since you can only make appointments 3 days in advance I will have to check back on that one.

Forth, I was talking to an Apple employee today and suggested he take the 29th off since all the stores are going to be a crowded zoo. His comment was "I wish I could but it's a blackout day." Funny, I didn't know working at Apple restricted flying. ;)

Finally, Pure Mobile's is stating that they will have an unlocked iPhone (coming soon). I know Apple has an exclusive contract with AT&T so how will this be possible? Even if it is can you imagine what it will cost, premium dollars I expect. I have to assume the AT&T features like Visual Voicemail won't work. If anyone is daring enough to take this plunge please let me know the outcome. Yes, all you AT&T / Cingular users can laugh all you want. It's deserved for all our laughing at your dropped calls. Sadly, I would still switch over for the iPhone. Damb you Apple!

Movie Theater Idiots

Rachel & I went to see Pirates of The Caribbean 3 tonight and it was good but Pirates 2 was better! Anyway that isn't the point.

Rachel & I haven't seen a movie recently and decided to see a 6:30pm showing since I got home from work earlier than normal. We rush over to the Marina Del Rey Regal Cinemas and walk up to the ticket counter. "Two for the 6:30pm Pirates please" the guy looks at us and says "just so you know this showing is closed caption for the deaf so there will be subtitles at the bottom of the screen for the entire movie". Perfect I can read "arrrr", "cannon fires", etc. No thanks, we will wait for the 7:00pm showing.

Off to Koo Koo Roo for dinner....

Back from dinner and a bag of Twizzlers in my hand we walk into theater 1. I didn't expect a crowd seeing as it was a Wednesday evening showing. Rachel and I were number 4 & 5 in the theater and sat near the middle but on the isle so I could put my feet up & stretch. Before we know it, another couple comes in and sits right in front of us even with 90% of the seats still empty. They did see my feet up and noticed that I wasn't moving so they sat one over from the isle. It wasn't really in front of me but it screwed Rachel out of a foot rest for a 2 hour and 45 minute movie. Next, the large, loud, popcorn woman rumbles down the isle. Guess where she sat..... Right f$%#'n behind me! Starting to get annoyed. Then we hear "What time does this movie start" yelled from a retarded father and son that walk in at 7:00pm (right when the movie should be starting). He then says "7:10pm right on time". Hey dumbass when you bought your ticket didn't you say "2 for the 7:00pm Pirates". They proceed to walk by us and say hello the to asshole that sat in front of us. Go figure!

The trailers starts to roll, guess what... In stroll 5 people with 3 of them wearing pirate costumes and holding plastic pistols. They are obviously drunk/high and laughing at everything. They decide to sit directly across the isle from ME! What could get worse you might ask? Well from the moment the trailers start to roll the center ceiling speaker has a loud hummm that can be heard at all times. I am about to walk out and complain but decide to bit my tongue and see what happens when the actual movie starts. Glad I did as the hmmmm faded at the end of the ads.

About 1 hour into the movie the retarded father and son decide to walk up to our front neighbors and say goodbye. I guess they liked Pirates 2 better but what a waste of $30 (they bought popcorn and a soda). I figure they snuck into the this movie after seeing Spiderman 3 and decided it was a good place to eat their dinner.

Thank god the issues ended and the movie continued without further incidents. Long lines and big crowds on opening weekend doesn't sound that bad after this.
